About Evolution
Welcome to Evolution Martial Arts NL! Located at 45 Blackmarsh Road in St Johns NL. Evolution offers a variety of martial arts classes for all ages under the guidance of head instructor Dru Hillyard. We offer a safe, welcoming training environment and are invested in our student’s growth – both in skill and character. At Evolution, we believe martial arts is for everyone! We are passionate about making sure students, whether recreational or highly competitive, get the most out of their journey. As an affiliate of Team Evolution, members of Evolution NL will join a broader Jiu-Jitsu community with locations across Canada, the United States and Europe.
Our programs include Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Wrestling and MMA classes. Women’s only and kids classes in Jiu-Jitsu are also available. Hope to see you on the mats!

The Team
Lead InstructorDru Hillyard
Dru is a Black Belt under Prof. Dan Guillemette and Prof. Steve Burgess and has been studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) for over 15+ years. To date Dru has over 8 years experience instructing BJJ not to mention many more years of experience as an instructor in the Canadian Armed Forces.
